When the U.S. Polo Team hosts AUSTRALIA May 2009, CAPITOL POLO CLUB will be the site of a spectacular convergence of cultures. Among the Americans and Australians in attendance, you’ll find visiting dignitaries, elected representatives, United Nations members, fashion lovers, horse fanciers, polo fans, and music devotees, all with one thing in common. A desire to be part of a world-class celebration.
The Land Rover America’s Polo Cup will benefit the Journey for the Cure, a non-profit 501 (c)(3)-(D) Charitable Foundation supporting local charitable organizations throughout the Capitol Region, with a emphasis on MS & Leukemia.
The Cup has grown to be the most famous and prestigious invitation competition in the sport, opening a new chapter for this exciting game whose earliest written accounts date back more than 2,000 years.
Returning in 2009 will be the hugely successful and popular "Rockin the Runway" Fashion show, a televised event.
For 2009, The Celebration will be enjoyed by Thousands and thousands of supporters and fans for the 2009 America's World Cup, which will once again bring a day full of surprises, musical talent and festivities on stage at this years America's Polo Cup with opening ceremonial fly overs after the National Anthems of both countries performed. Returning will be the US Coast Guard, US Marines, BlackWater USA Parachute Team, as well as the U.S. Park Police Aviation Unit, K9 Division and Horse Mounted Division. A Surprise Air Show fly over will also occur.
This year’s event will have performances by Headliners from Australia to the United States - starting on Friday May 8th, thru May 9th. Including a grand finale spectacular two live concerts by a Australian & USA National Headliner with Fireworks Show!
Capitol Polo Club, in Potomac, Marlyand was awarded the 2009 host location of the Land Rover America’s Polo Cup. States & Countys bid for the honor to host the prestigous America's Polo Cup due to its significant economic impact on the locality. Its new location in Potomac, Marlyand – makes it a 25-minute drive from Washington Dulles International Airport and a 35-minute drive from the White House. A New Challenging Counrty and New Host Venue will be awarded the rights to the Prestigous America's Cup for 2010 at the 2009 America's Cup.
